The emerging technology in blast furnace, for improved performance and reduced coke consumption, is to inject auxiliary fuels like coal, dust, coal tar etc. into the furnace. These fuels are injected through injection lance at the hot air tuyers. These lances are frequently taken out of the furnace for maintenance or replacement purpose. It is always desirable to insert or remove the lance on line without shut down or reducing the hot air pressure. The lifting ball type check valve facilities on line removal and insertion of injection lance into blast furnace.
