Desuperheater

Multinozzle Desuperheater/Attemperator - Series 230

  • Temperature control to within 8°C of saturation with the ability to hole set point within a tolerance of 3°C
  • Water flow turndown of 20:1 or higher for stellited trim
  • No need for separate cooling water control valve
  • Designed for applications with steam temperatures up to 550°C
  • Available in standard classes 300, 600, 900, 1500 as per ASME B16.5
  • FC170-2/ANSI Class IVshutoff capability
  • Suitable for vertical or horizontal installation
  • Standard connection 3" NB raised face flange (steam) and 1" NB raised face flange (water)
  • Designed to resist thermal fatigue
  • Complete water absorption within 2 meters
  • Provides high desuperheating efficiency by use of full pressure drop at nozzles for all loads
  • Water particles kept at centre of steam pipe thereby ensuring rapid mixing

Venturi Type Desuperheater - Series 240

  • Efficient mixing due to finely atomised spray in highly turbulent steam at vena contracta
  • Ideal for water pressure marginally above steam pressure
  • High turn down upto 10:1
  • Integral nozzles suitable for small steam pipes upto 3" NB & replaceable nozzles for stem pipes above 3" NB
  • Available in flanged/Butt weld ends
  • Body material A106 GrB / A335 P11, P22
  • Venturi material SS4 10 / A216 WCB

Fixed Nozzle Desuperheater - Series 250

  • Inline type assembly for steam line size 6" NB and above
  • Minicooler for steam line size up to 4" NB
  • Turn down 3:1
  • Most simple and reliable desuperheater
  • Inbuilt check valve to avoid steam entry in water line
  • Material SS 316 for △P up to 40 bar
  • Stellited nozzles for higher △P
  • Standard connection 1/4" BSP(M)
  • Standard Kv values 0.016, 0.035, 0.07, 0.11, 0.14, 0.17,0.205, 0.235,0.27 and 0.312
  • Higher Kv values available in size 1/2" and 3/4"

Steam Assisted Nozzle - Series 260

  • High turn down up to 10:1
  • Good mixing and evaporation of water even at very low loads
  • Suitable for water pressure marginally above steam pressure
  • High water flow capacity

Sizing Formula

  • The following formula can be used to calculate the quantity of water required to lower the inlet steam temperature to the desired outlet temperature.
    Qw = Qs (H1-H2)/(H2-Hw)
Where Qw = Water quantity required in kg/hr
Qs = Steam flow in kg/hr
H1 = Enthalpy of inlet steam in KJ/kg
H2 = Enthalpy of outlet steam in KJ/kg
Hw = Enthalpy of spray water in KJ/kg
  • The following formula can be used to calculate the Kv value of the desuperheater
Where Qw = Flow of water in kg/hr
Pw = Water pressure in bar
= Density of water in kg/m3
Ps = Steam pressure in bar
